Take a deep breath...

...up we go!

It's not called Steep Hill for nothing you know!

On a recent beautifully sunny day, we decided to visit 'uphill' Lincoln and the only way to do that is to park at the bottom and walk up...

(No 9 on the left is a great shop called Tasty Vintage but unfortunately the owner had 'popped out' for 15 minutes so no pics. There were lot's of people coming and going so I think she must have missed a lot of business!)

...and up

and up!

Finally, you get to the top (stopping en route to do some window shopping and catch your breath) to be rewarded with lovely buildings like these...

...and great shopping opportunities on Bailgate (which is being restored at the moment, so lot's of horrid barriers everywhere and holes in the road)

and of course, this.

No matter how many times you've seen it before, a building like this can't fail to make you say wow!

This chap will take around the sights...

Through the arches and this magnificent building is waiting to rise up in front of you.

We were really lucky the day we visited as it was free to go inside so in we went...

Magnificent, I'm sure you'll agree?

Opposite the Cathedral are some equally magnificent houses...

Back we go under the arch...

...to do the return journey down Steep Hill with A leading the way.

And no, it isn't any easier going down as my knees will testify!

Phew...hard work but definitely worth it.

We didn't have time to visit Lincoln Castle which is also close to the Cathedral but maybe another day.

If you're thinking of visiting these links may be useful...
